This renovation reimagines Enstar’s corporate offices as a workplace that bridges the aesthetics of home and office. The design supports shifting work habits through flexible collaboration zones, restorative lounges, and naturally lit resource areas on each floor. Focus rooms accommodate employees accustomed to remote work, incorporating acoustic pendants, layered lighting, ergonomic tools, and furnishings that balance comfort with productivity.
The interior palette draws inspiration from Alaska’s winter sunsets, using warm neutrals, varied upholstery textures, and subtle biophilic accents to create a secure and welcoming environment. A custom LED-backlit desk evokes the reflective qualities of ice and enhances circadian support during the darker winter months. Sustainability and stewardship guided the project. The team embraced an “ugly-out, not worn-out” approach, reusing 75% of existing workstations, repurposing bright green acoustic panels as wall art, and integrating the building’s legacy structure and furnishings into the new design. This strategy meaningfully reduces embodied carbon while advancing circularity.
