As part of a larger $200 million investment in Anchorage, FedEx is expanding its operations at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport with a package sorting facility and vehicle wash building. The project supports FedEx’s goal to separate domestic and international cargo handling, reducing processing delays and improving efficiency across their growing global network.

Located on a 22-acre site adjacent to the existing FedEx ANCA facility, the new campus includes aircraft apron parking, secure fencing, and stormwater treatment systems. The sorting facility is designed to streamline logistics by isolating international flows, ensuring faster movement of goods and less disruption during peak shipping periods.

Site conditions posed complex challenges. Underlying peat, PFAS, and petroleum contamination required deep surcharge fill, pile-supported structures, and environmental remediation strategies. The project’s response is focused on durability, logistics, and sustainability.
