The FTW376 UAS Hangar supports the Army’s unmanned aircraft mission with a facility tailored to storage, maintenance, and daily operations. The building brings together technical shop space, quality control functions, administrative areas, and a hangar bay sized for efficient aircraft movement. A secure armory built to ICD 705 criteria strengthens the facility’s mission readiness.
The location of this project on the south edge of the Ladd Field Historic District shaped many design decisions. The team studied form, materials, and color to align with the character of nearby historic structures, supported by dedicated historical consulting. Direct adjacency to the airfield required careful coordination with airfield operations and planning for tactical vehicle circulation. The project also relied on extensive civil and utility upgrades, including steam, water, sewer, and electrical extensions sized for cold region performance. A compressed design schedule led the team to advance civil and structural packages early so construction could begin before winter, allowing the contractor to maintain momentum despite the short building season.
