Heather Ortega

“Explore Design is more than a name, it’s how I approach every project.”

Heather brings curiosity, creativity, and technical precision to her role as a BIM Technician at Explore Design. Originally from California and raised in Colorado, she grew up surrounded by construction. Her dad, a general contractor, sparked her early fascination with how things come together. That interest evolved into a love for design, problem-solving, and the satisfaction of seeing a project move from idea to reality.

At ExD, Heather helps translate concepts into buildable models, coordinating details that keep projects running smoothly. She thrives on complex challenges and enjoys researching new tools and workflows to make each design stronger. Ever eager to expand her skills, she’s particularly interested in rendering and visualization programs, finding joy in bringing designs to life with clarity and craft.

Outside of work, Heather finds inspiration in the outdoors: camping, hiking, and off-roading with her husband, or in the quiet moments spent drawing, sewing, or tackling creative projects at home. To her, design is an ongoing exploration, full of opportunities to learn, grow, and make something meaningful every day.
