Michael Carlson is a highly skilled architect with a broad portfolio of public facilities including education, aviation, justice, military and federal work. His collaborative approach engages broad based user groups to participate in shaping each project’s vision. His work is characterized by thoughtful design, attention to detail, and a respect for the unique challenges presented by each project. Michael’s projects have received numerous local, state, and international awards for design excellence. He is a patient listener and outstanding communicator.

Today, he’s focused on guiding MCG’s next chapter, building on a legacy of design that connects people and place. In the spaces between work and mentorship, you’ll likely find him exploring Alaska by bike playing his guitar on a street corner or lending his voice to local school and municipal planning efforts.

The University of Alaska has been one of Michael’s most valued client relationships over the past 4 decades. The Alaska Airlines Center was incredibly rewarding to design for this landmark project on the UAA Campus.
